We loaded the van up at Glengary Apartments - a fiting departure point, as all of us have lived there for at least a few months of our lives. Viewed: 1433 times.

We then embarked on a 2-hour drive down the 103, 325, 208, and 8 highways (in succession). Shown here: Highway 103, connecting southern Nova Scotia to Halifax. Eventually.
The drive is 2 hours provided that you don't mind passing transport trucks on back country roads - something I am used to, but something some of my companions needed a few minutes to get used to. Viewed: 1055 times.

| Upon our arrival at Keji, after our warning about bears, and paying our entrance fees (and leaving contact information for our next of kin), we proceeded to Jake's Landing to rent canoes and fasten them to the top of the van. The guy there helped us with that, and we paid close attention so that we'd be able to re-fasten them on our return trip. Viewed: 1225 times.

| After a 30-minute drive down a one-lane two-way curvy hilly dirt road, we arrived at the river that connects the main lake to Loon Lake (and our camp site). (I\'m not complainig about the drive - it was either that or paddle for 3 hours) Viewed: 1175 times.

In due time, we all arrived at the end of the trail, re-packed the canoes, and got ready for the paddling leg of our journey. Viewed: 1126 times.

As you can see in this picture, it wasn't an easy paddle. A maze of rocks awaited us, and the ones you could see were the easy ones. It was the ones just barely under water that Colin and I got our canoe stuck on fairly regularly. Here, Chris and Martin take stock of what appears to be an impenetrable maze of rocks. It turns out that this direction - downstream - is much easier than the next day when we had to make our way upstream. Viewed: 1250 times.

| Deadly rocks aside, we made it to the end of the paddling portion of our journey without making use of the bailing bucket. In fact, the trip was much easier than any of us expected. Viewed: 1211 times.

And then we - and by 'we', I mean Martin - started a fire. Viewed: 1164 times.

| We set up our tents and got out our food and ate our dinner - which really was a dinner of hot dogs and marshmallows. 2.5 kg of hot dogs, 1 kg of marshmallows, and 1 kg of bacon comprised the bulk of our food stores. Viewed: 1161 times.
